Decision & History_County of Westchester v. HUD – Decided September 25, 2015
(27 pages)

What is learned from Westchester County New York’s 10-year incident? (See Blog 196)

The federal government can’t interfere with our planning and zoning, unless our commissioners give them control by accepting the grant money.  But if we accept the grant money, controls shift to the federal government.  So don’t apply for and accept the HUD/AFFH grant money.

Ask our County Commissioners to vote against accepting HUD/AFFH grant money.

Over 10 years ago, Westchester County New York signed up for the grant money.  Then a community activist group challenged them.  Westchester asked HUD for help, after which their serious troubles began.

To date, our commissioners have had to adjust their local plans to some degree, to comply with past money accepted for  “affirmatively furthering fair housing.”

Now HUD has developed (by experimenting with other counties and cities) how to take over more control of our neighborhoods, to make suburban neighborhoods “equivalent” to urban neighborhoods – to make suburbs “fair.” Continue reading

(To email them individually see later in this blog piece.)
Or leave messages for all three at:  303-271-8525
More Contact Information about our Commissioners below, near the end of this Blog.

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
We have accepted two kinds of HUD/AFFH grant money in the past:
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME)

HUD can’t take away our local control but….

The federal government can’t take away our local control – but our County Commissioners can GIVE away control to the federal government by agreeing to HUD/AFFH terms in order to receive federal HUD/AFFH money.

The vote will be soon.

Before the end of this month (April 2017) our three Colorado Jefferson County, County Commissioners, will be voting whether to accept HUD/AFFH grant money  [Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment partnerships (HOME)].

Please call or email.

Please ask the Jeffco County Commissioners to vote against accepting the grant money.  If they do NOT accept the HUD/AFFH money, they retain their control as our County Commissioners — and we keep our planning and zoning decisions within our own county.

See Blogs 0195 and 0196  and 0198 for information about the disaster that HUD/AFFH has become.

The Commissioners’ job description is below –
(If they accept the grant money,
they sign over their responsibilities to the federal government)

“The board provides leadership and vision in guiding Jefferson County government, and the commissioners are responsible for overseeing the organization and budgets of a wide variety of county programs designed to benefit citizens. Please view our organization chart.

“The commissioners hold numerous meetings and public hearings to set policies and make decisions regarding land use, transportation, open space purchases, social service concerns, community development, law enforcement, libraries, public health and many other vital issues.” Continue reading

0191_A 2012 Jamie Glazov interview of Robert Buchar, maker of the flim–The Collapse of Communism: The Untold Story–Info on companion book by Buchar

Donna Jack
March 12, 2017/updated March 25, 2017

One of my goals is to better understand what is really going on in our country, and in the world.

“The United States is heading for trouble and the key to understand it
in all its complexity is to learn what really happened in the period 1989 and 1991.”
Robert Buchar (Political refugee – born and raised in Czechoslovakia —
maker of the flim The Collapse of Communism:  The Untold Story.)

The 2012 interview below of Robert Buchar, can be found at:  http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/147208/collapse-communism-untold-story-jamie-glazov

Also read about the movie and the companion book – and see the trailor to the documentary — at Blog 0183.

Note:  Robert Buchar wrote a book based on this movie.  It is called And Reality Be Damned…Undoing America:  What media didn’t tell you about the end of the Cold war and the fall of communism in Europe.

“Inside Every Progressive Is A Totalitarian Screaming To Get Out” @horowitz39, David Horowitz

Interview of Robert Buchar by Jamie Glazov:

The Collapse of Communism: The Untold Story

A new documentary unearths the uncomfortable truths that explain the dark forces on our horizon.

Frontpage Interview’s guest today is Robert Buchar, an associate professor and author of the Cinematography Program at Columbia College in Chicago. A political refugee from former Czechoslovakia, he is the producer of the documentary, Velvet Hangover, which is about Czech New Wave filmmakers, how they survived the period of “normalization” and their reflections on the so-called Velvet Revolution of 1989. He is also the author of  Czech New Wave Filmmakers in Interviews and And Reality be Damned… Undoing America: What The Media Didn’t Tell You About the End of the Cold War and Fall of Communism in Europe. He just currently finished the new feature length documentary film, The Collapse of Communism: The Untold Story.

FP: Robert Buchar, welcome to Frontpage Interview. Congratulations on your new documentary film.

Buchar: Thank you Jamie for the opportunity to talk about it.  It took eight years to finish but it’s finally done.

FP: Let us begin with this question: Why should we talk about the fall of communism? Why does it matter?

Buchar: Right, why talk about something that happened some 23 years ago? The word communism isn’t even in our vocabulary anymore and the new generation has no idea what it even means.

And yet, communism eliminated over 100 million people during seventy years of its existence. That’s enough bodies to cover the equator of our planet when placing bodies side by side. When communism ‘collapsed’ in 1989, the media never raised the question of where those responsible for all the atrocities were. We didn’t hear anyone in the media asking where all the communists disappeared to.

0190_New book: My Favorite Life-Changing Stories_by Dr. Joe L. Wheeler_great book of encouragement

Donna Jack
March 16, 2017

Yesterday morning I bought Dr. Joe Wheeler’s latest book of true stories:   My Favorite Life-Changing Stories. I read the entire book today. You can see and order the book at:  http://joewheelerbooks.com/

My Favorite Life-Changing Stories

My Favorite Life-Changing Stories

My Favorite Life-Changing Stories

This is the fourth book in “My Favorite” inspirational story series.

2017: Tradepaper. Short, true, life-changing epiphany stories.

Which story was my favorite?

This evening I called Dr. Joe to tell him I had finished reading his newest book.  He asked me which story I liked best.

Where could I begin, except to say that I loved them all.  They were all vivid in my mind.

Then I decided I should talk about one of the stories, and chose the last one in the book, since I had just completed it a few minutes earlier.  The message that stood out to me in that story, was that we should stop brooding over our failures of the past.  Instead we should analyze our mistakes, and figure out how to do better next time.

Then I shared with him messages I remembered from six or seven other stories.  Then I told him things I learned from his introduction to the book, introductions to the stories, and the Epilogue.  In those sections Dr. Joe shares some of his insights, struggles and victories.  One of the struggles he speaks of is the temptation to forget and take credit for success, when it is actually God who provides the abilities and opportunities.  That is a common human struggle.

Some characteristics emphasized within this powerful collection of stories:

Within My Favorite Life-Changing Stories are found displayed many different important characteristics.  Among them are:  honesty; compassion; forgiveness; repentance; perseverance even after repeated failures; patience; verbalizing expressions of appreciation; bravery; kindness; self-control; reliability; generosity; determination; and reverence and obedience to God.

The stories encourage us to realize that no matter what our condition in life, we need to look ahead, and trust God.  He holds our lives in His hands. Continue reading

0184_Whittaker Chambers_1948 witness in the case of Alger Hiss (a Soviet Espionage Agent)

Donna Jack
February 25, 2017

The following blog piece is about a man who was a witness in 1948.  This witness testified that one of the better-known, better-loved and respected men in our country, who was working high in our government, was a Soviet espionage agent.  The man he witnessed about, was instrumental in the creation of the United Nations, and was instrumental in China becoming Communist.  He was the first Secretary General of the UN.

How did “this man” become a witness against the Soviet espionage agent?

“This man” is Whittaker Chambers.  He was born 1901, into an educated, middle-class, New York family.  He was a gentle man who never wanted to hurt anyone.

As he was growing up, he witnessed the collapse of his own family.  In 1920-1921 there was a depression, and it seemed to him that the economy of the United States was about to crumble.

When he went to college at Columbia shortly after WWI, he entered as a conservative in his lifestyles and his politics.  At that time he was also having a religious experience.   When he first left Columbia, he was no longer conservative, and had no religion.  He later returned to Columbia for a while, and when he finally left Columbia in 1925, he did so to join the Communist party.

By the time he joined the Communist party, he had already searched and studied thoroughly.  He had previously written an atheist play that caught the eye of the Communist party.  When he joined the Communists, he was convinced that he was leaving the losing side to join the winners.  He was convinced that American Capitalism was going to fail.  He believed the only hope for a good society to emerge was offered by the Communist party.  He could find no other philosophy that offered what he believed the Communist party had to offer.

Communism appeared to be the only hope for the collapsing world

— Because of his strong faith that Communism was the only hope for our country, and for the world

— And because of his high intelligence, hard work and loyalty Continue reading

THE VENONA SECRETS
The Venona Secrets:  Exposing Soviet Espionage and America’s Traitors, by Herbert Romerstein and Eric Breindwdel

Venona:  Decoding Soviet Espionage in America, by John Earl Haynes & Harvey Klehr

One project that reveals the active efforts by Soviet Russia to undermine both Britain and the U.S., is the Venona Project.

Revealed through this project were secret Soviet cable traffic from the 1940s.  The United Stated intercepted thousands of them, and eventually decrypted a large percentage of them.

These secret Soviet cables revealed the names of Americans Soviet espionage agents, who were not only stealing our military and government secrets, in order to help the Soviets “take us down,” but they were deciding our foreign and domestic policies as well.  Many of these spies were not removed from working in our government — and hundreds in the Venona cables were never decrypted.  Who knows how many Soviet agents were never even mentioned in the cables?

0180_Who is Joe McCarthy? Not who you thought he was. Finally the truth is known that he was right — 50 years later! — “Blacklisted” by M. Stanton Evans

GREAT REFERENCE BOOK

This book is a great reference book, and clears up a lot of misinformation about Joe McCarthy.

LIES WERE MANUFACTURED AND DESIGNED FROM THE BEGINNING,
TO USE McCARTHY AS THE “POSTER CHILD” FOR IMAGINARY ACCUSATIONS,

IN ORDER TO NEUTRALIZE THE TRUTH

Almost all of academia, the vast majority of the press, and most of the public, have been saying McCarthy was nuts, even at the time Joe McCarthy was trying to reveal Communist infiltration.  At that time, any of McCarthy’s mistaken claims, and things he did out of  frustration, were magnified and repeated.  He was effectively discounted — but Joe McCarthy was actually provably right about the Communist infiltration of our government!

He came on the scene soon after the Whittaker Chambers/Alger Hiss investigations and trial(s) (1948).  In 1948 the statute of limitations had passed, so Alger Hiss couldn’t be put in prison for being a Soviet espionage agent.  But he was proven guilty of being a Soviet espionage agent, and was convicted and put in prison for perjury – – for saying he was not a Soviet espionage agent.

Joe McCarthy was effectively used by the Left, as a good neutralizing force that diverted people away from the reality that Alger Hiss and other Soviet Communists had become part of our government, and were doing damage.

THE FACT OF SOVIET COMMUNIST INFILTRATION AND THEIR
WORK IN OUR GOVERNMENT IS PROVEN THROUGH THOUSANDS OF RESOURCES

0177_Epidemic in our country: believing the worst (or best) without any knowledge_Link to Goebbels’ quote about repeating big lie (people will believe it)

Donna Jack
February 10, 2017

In Blog Post 0178 you can read Joseph Goebbels’ quote  — it talks about making up a huge lie and repeating it over and over to manipulate people.  You can also read his quote in Quotation 26 on the Quotations page of this website.

We need to be slow to judge people, and slow to anger.  Those who wish to control us, use against us, our weakness to swiftly judge and to get angry.  They keep repeating lies — lies that are designed to divide.

It is difficult to avoid judging people,
when quick harsh judgment is all around us every day.

Almost no matter where we go, people seem to be angry, saying bad things about people — frequently these uncomplimentary words are about people they don’t even know.  People often seem to be eager to cut someone else down.  These harsh unkind words are not only focused on strangers, but just as easily shift focus to people close to home:  people in our schools, our churches, at work, in our neighborhoods, clubs …  and in our own families .

Blog post 0090 goes into detail about “Label-Libel” — a term I found in a book
from a New Mexico teacher supply store.

Human nature is a combination of both good and bad.  Those who have evil goals in mind to control other people, frequently take advantage of the weaknesses of human nature (greed, selfishness, dishonesty, pride, vengeance, gossip, hatred, anger, impatience).  They encourage and feed these weaknesses, in order to divide us from each other, so that they can accomplish their own selfish goals.

0172_Illiteracy by design_The Columbian Orator (the book that helped build the American character) – it was read and studied by two of the greatest orators in the 1800s: Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln

Donna Jack
2017-01-19

By design our country is being made illiterate.

John Dewey is the father of public education in the United States, wrote curriculum and taught teachers how to teach (at Columbia University).
On my quotations page you will find:  Quotation 23c. & 16.
“Teaching school children to read was a ‘perversion’ and high literacy rate bred ‘the sustaining force behind individualism.'”
John Dewey, Educational Psychologist

More and more people in our country are unable to read, write, or think.  This has all been by design.  See Blog 0014, and the linked article “‘Free’ Education and Literacy.”

PDF Of ’Free’ Education and Literacy . . .      and
PDF of 2006_The Cultural Degradation of Universal Education

A great book that increased and perfected literacy and oratory in the 1800s

I want to bring your attention to a great book.  This book and the Bible are what Abraham Lincoln studied and credited for his reading and oratory skills.  And this book was the only book that Frederick Douglass owned when he was growing up.  Both men memorized and practiced the speeches in The Columbian Orator.  These men became two of the greatest orators in the 1800s.

The book is The Columbian Orator.  It can be ordered from Amazon.com at this link.

On the front cover of my 1998 edition of the book, is printed:

“The Book That Helped Build the American Character”

“Containing a variety of original and selected pieces together with rules, which are calculated to improve youth and others, in the ornamental and useful art of eloquence   —  by Caleb Bingham, A.M.”

Back cover:

“First published in 1797, The Columbian Orator helped shape the American mind for the next half century, going through some twenty-three editions and totaling 200,000 copies in sales.  The book was read by virtually every American schoolboy in the first half of the nineteenth century.  As a slave youth, Frederick Douglass owned just this one book, and read it frequently, referring to is as a ‘gem’ and his ‘rich treasure.’
