July 21, 2017/July 22, 2017 update

My husband is taking online, the Hillsdale College class “Introduction to the Constitution.”  It is free. It is one of a number of classes Hillsdale College offers free online.

In light of the gross ignorance of the Constitution in our country — and the frightening results of that ignorance that we are seeing around us — it is important that people become aware of our Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence.  We need knowledge in order to be able to stand up to protect and preserve our nation.

For decades, our public schools have been omitting this knowledge from being available to students.  In fact, grossly false information about our country, our founding, and our freedom, continues to be taught throughout the schools.  Children and adults have for a long time been taught to hate America, not understanding the unique blessing it is on us and on the world.

At the end of this article, see four previous blogs on this site that deal with the lies in AP U.S.  History.

Dr. Larry Arnn – teaches “Introduction to the Constitution”

Dr. Larry Arnn is the teacher for the 11 lessons of an “Introduction to the Constitution” class.  He has been president of Hillsdale College since 2000.  He is the kind of person that you gladly listen to — because of his extensive knowledge, and his enthusiasm for whatever subject he speaks about.

In this series he serves as more of a moderator that  one giving a lecture.  He is working with freshmen and sophomores at Hillsdale College.  The information is a very good review, or foundation if you have little knowledge of the Constitution.

In the second class on the Constitution, a number of people take turns leading the sessions, using a lecture format.

You can access here the list and content of the 11 lessons in the
Hillsdale “Introduction to the Constitution” class …or link to each one of them below: Continue reading

Our right to own property and be able to make decisions about our own property, is shrinking at an alarming rate.  When property rights are destroyed, also destroyed are “free enterprise, the American way of life, and ultimately Freedom itself.”

June 21, 2017, Dr. Michael Coffman died.  His passing was a great loss to the battle for our freedom as a nation.

0230_William Bennett, What Watered Down Massachusetts Standards? (Answer: Common Core) – introductory email commentary by Donna Garner_ article by Shane Vander Hart, May 11, 2017

Donna Jack NOTE:  Common Core was firmly established as federal law through ESSA December 10, 2015.  ESSA is the federal law that proponents, and those who voted for it, claimed brought local control to education.   See links to ESSA summary, law, and audio of summary at bottom of this blog piece.  “Search” other blogs on this site about ESSA, Betsy DeVos; Jeb Bush; FEE (Jeb’s Foundation for Excellence in Education); Sandra Stotsky; Common Core; No Child Left Behind (NTLB); etc.

Massachusetts was a model for the nation.  In the 1990s the state’s standards were raised above the other states, followed by dramatic improvement in their academic accomplishments.  They had better academic education than all the other states.  Then Massachusetts’ education began to fail even more dramatically than it had improved.

Read Donna Garner’s commentary below and link to the article by Shane Vander Hart that she references.  His article is about the dramatic decline in Massachusetts’ education, and Bill Bennett’s apparent ignorance of why Massachusetts “has begun watering down some of its rigorous standards and that performance is starting to backslide.

AMERICAN HEALTHCARE IN CRISIS: PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS
http://tipofthespear.net/spearofliberty/2017/07/04/american-health-care-in-crisis-problems-and-solutions/

We are truly at a crossroads in American healthcare.  The seemingly endless layers of regulations and requirements, as well as the overhead for the bureaucracy itself, are crushing it.

Our healthcare system has become rife with corruption and inefficiency.  Special interests lobby politicians to force you to buy their services and pay for subsidies, while politicians leverage their influence to garner votes and enrich themselves and their friends.

Doctors and patients have been reduced to being mere commodities.

When Obamacare was being pushed through Congress, we were told premiums would go down; that we would get to keep our doctor; and that visits to the ER would decrease.  Exactly the opposite happened.  The government has exacerbated, if not created, this crisis.

When the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was enacted in 2015 to replace the hated No Child Left Behind law, the new legislation’s supporters trumpeted that, henceforth, control over education would reside with the states.

“With this bill,” Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) promised, “we are sending power back to the people.”

Douglas County Choice Scholarship Program to be Reconsidered by CO Supreme Court in Light of Trinity Lutheran Ruling

We are so excited about the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on the Trinity Lutheran case, and what that could mean for the students in Douglas County and throughout the nation.

As you can tell from today’s Wall Street Journal editorial, the decision could signal the beginning of the end for bigoted “Blaine” language in some 38 state constitutions. But it doesn’t guarantee it.

A quick explanation here. Blaine language says that the government can’t give money to “sectarian” schools. Our Ross Izard explains how these hateful laws came to be and how this post-civil war representative hoped his anti-Catholic crusade would propel him into the White House. (Spoiler…it didn’t.)

0218_ALABAMA TEST CASE OF TRUMP ADMIN’S COMMITMENT TO LOCAL CONTROL OF EDUCATION – BY DR. SUSAN BERRY — BREITBART – 6.14.17

Donna Jack
2017-06-19

Excerpt from email that follows:

“Senior fellow at American Principles Project Emmett McGroarty tells Breitbart News:

“The fact that Alabama can’t freely choose its assessments confirms that ESSA failed to return control over K-12 education back to state and local government.  No person, no administration has come up with a way for the federal government to exercise such power without it being an unaccountable political bully. It is time to stop this farce and to truly return education policymaking to state and local government, where it would be closest to parents and other citizens.”

By Dr. Susan Berry

 http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/06/14/alabama-test-case-trump-administrations-commitment-local-control-education/

The Trump Department of Education’s rejection of a request by Alabama to drop the ACT Aspire test for its students in favor of different tests is spurring sentiment that the state may well be a “test case” to see how committed President Donald Trump and U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos are to “local control” of education.

Hyde Amendment Showdown on Obamacare

John and Andy Schlafly
06-14-2017

The Hyde Amendment has long been the single most important pro-life legislation at the federal level, originally enacted in 1976 and upheld on a 5-4 vote by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1980.  The amendment, which is an annual rider to the federal budget, prohibits the use of federal taxpayer dollars to fund abortion.
