0303_WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING? (SEL) – BY J. R. WILSON (2/7/18) — possible federal ESSA funds for SEL

February 11, 2018

A quotation from the article “What is so great about social-emotional learning” by J. R. Wilson (later in this blog piece):

Which comes first, feeling good about yourself so you can
accomplish something worthwhile,
or accomplishing something worthwhile
so you have something to feel good about?

Search online, and on the Table of Contents page of this site, for other information about SEL (Social Emotional Learning).  Social emotional learning (SEL) has been taking place in schools for decades, but SEL is now specifically named in the schools, and is touted as what education should be all about.

ESSA (federal education program) provides funding for SEL.  That is one result of ESSA being nationally implemented.  No, we have not gotten rid of Common Core and federal control of education.  You can find the following information online:

Funding for Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) in
ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act_Dec. 10, 2015)
The list contains the specific programs (title and section number) for which ESSA funds may, potentially, be spent to support social-emotional learning (SEL) activities.

For those programs in existence under No Child Left Behind (NCLB), funding levels are provided for FY 2016.
ESSA-Resources_SEL-Funding_downloaded June 11, 2018 w link

Also search this site for “ESSA”(Every Student Succeed Act) – the federal legislation that cemented Common Core into federal law.  Note:  people in Congress and the U.S. Department of Education deny what ESSA did — and instead they parrot words claiming ESSA eliminated Common Core — claiming that education is now decided on a local level.  That is not what happened.  People too often parrot what they are told, without finding out for themselves.  Search this site for “Betsy DeVos.”

Understanding what SEL actually is, will enlighten you about:
1) a main cause of the dumbing down of American education;
2)  the data-gathering on identified students and everyone that touches their lives;
3)  the collecting of personal data, and storing it with personal identifiers — then distributing that data at will;
4) and the mind and behavior control that is actively taking place in schools across the country.  [This is all Type #2 education, rather than Type #1 education – see Home Page of this site]

0302_Colorado Representative Tim Leonard introduced HB 18-1213_ that allows school board candidates to declare party affiliation_YouTube

February 13, 2018

On February 8, 2018, Representative Tim Leonard sent out an email in which he shared his latest bill.

For decades there has been a game played saying that school board candidates were not partisan.  The fact is, some candidates are strongly partisan, but want to hide their party affiliation from the public.

That has been used as a tool, especially by the democrat party, to hide from the public who the republicans are, and to pretend they are themselves are above politics.

Fellow Coloradan,

“Transparency” is a word I keep hearing as I visit with constituents in our district.

In particular, transparency in elections is an important component to our representative government.

Just this last election cycle, I was asked over and over again about candidates for school board.

People were wondering why slates of candidates were running together as Republicans and Democrats, yet no party information was available for them.

And none of them were transparent enough to state their party. Continue reading

Bureau of Land Mismanagement

Many Eagle Forum members rejoiced when Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy was cleared of all federal charges on December 20, 2017, and walked free after 700 days of false imprisonment.  The whole story is now told by one of Bundy’s attorneys, Joel Hansen.  It proves that government, made up of “mortal men,” is prone to abuse if left unchecked by courageous citizens like the Bundys who peacefully stood firm on their Constitutional rights.

All Americans owe a debt of gratitude to Mr. Bundy and his family and to all those who supported them.  As the article concludes: “Cliven Bundy and his sons are modern American heroes, who fought against tyranny at the peaceful battle of Bunkerville, in memory of the bloody battle against tyranny at Bunker Hill.”

By Joel F. Hansen, Chairman, Independent American Party of Nevada

Cliven Bundy’s ancestors on his mother’s side came, as pioneers, to the Gold Butte area of the southern Nevada desert in 1877 and began ranching from scratch. In doing this they established grazing rights and water rights — preemptive legal rights under Nevada law which gave them permanent rights to graze cattle on that land. Those legal rights were passed down through the years to Cliven Bundy and his family.  In 1934, the Taylor Grazing Act was passed by Congress, an act designed to assist ranchers, especially in the arid American West, to raise cattle for the benefit of Americans — by putting delicious and nutritious beef on their tables. The Bundy ranch is located about 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, near the town of Bunkerville.

These pioneers conquered this hostile, arid land and made it into a productive ranch by making water and feed available to their cattle and learning how to manage the cows so that they could survive in such an arid place, an area mostly covered by sagebrush and creosote bushes.  Because of the water and increased food made available by the ranchers’ efforts, wildlife flourished. The most numerous animal wildlife in the area is the desert tortoise. The tortoises flourished because the cows eat woody bushes which are above the level the tortoises can reach, and then they leave a delicacy for the tortoises on the ground where they can reach it.  The tortoises’ main course and dessert is cow pies, which contain all of the nutrients and moisture the tortoises need for survival.

In 1946, the Bureau of Land Management was created by Congress with the mission of helping ranchers to succeed by helping them construct watering facilities, fences, and other things needed by cattle and by ranchers.  The partnership was a good one, and Cliven Bundy paid the grazing fees required by the BLM for many years.  The people who ran the BLM, in the beginning, were rancher friendly, having degrees in solid scientific areas like geology, range management, animal husbandry, and the like. But beginning in the 1970’s and growing in numbers at an ever-increasing rate each year was a new generation of BLM-ocrats, those with degrees in the “environmental sciences.”  This new generation saw ranchers not as fellow citizens cooperating in the effort to make the land productive, but as enemies who were destroying the environment.  They had signs on their walls — “no more moo by 92” and “cattle free by 93.” As a result, in an effort to eliminate ranching in Nevada, the BLM began raising the annual fee for each cow on the range (AUM’s) and shortening the grazing season. Thus, out of over 50 ranchers in Clark County, only Cliven Bundy survived, as one by one all of his fellow ranchers gave up and went out of business because they couldn’t make a profit under the BLM’s oppressive rules. #MemoReleased – Thankfully the forgotten men and women of America have been heard!  President Trump released the memo without redactions!

When I (and many other grassroots citizens) started tweeting and posting #ReleaseTheMemo on 1.18.18, Zuckerberg/Facebook immediately blocked my account. This stayed blocked until a Congressman came to my rescue.  After so many of his constituents piqued his interest with #ReleaseTheMemo, he decided to read the memo for himself in the secured facility. He was appalled by its contents, contacted me, and successfully put pressure on Zuckerberg/Facebook to unblock my account.

Six days ago Sean Hannity had his Twitter account blocked for a period of time.  Sean Hannity, Sara Carter, John Solomon, Gregg Jarrett, Sebastian Gorka, Jay Sekulow, Rep. Devin Nunes, and other courageous patriots have worked tirelessly for over a year to reveal the corruption at the highest levels of the Dept. of Justice and FBI.

The Deep State, the leftists, the Democrats, the Obamaites, the Hillaryites, and the far-left media have been desperate to make sure that #ReleaseTheMemo was not successful.  They never wanted the common people to know the truth – that one political party (the Democrats) did indeed “weaponize” the FBI and the DOJ to illegally take down a person of the opposite political party (Donald Trump). They used a horrible, salacious, lie-filled dossier paid for by the Democrats/Hillary to help get a FISA warrant that allowed the FBI/DOJ to surveil the Trump team and many other American citizens.  This is what Communist countries and/or Third World countries do. This should never, ever have happened in our Constitutional Republic.    Continue reading

0297_Fix Yourself_Jordan Peterson_PragerU video January 9, 2018

Donna Jack
January 29, 2018

One of the prevalent problems today is that young (and old) do not want to invest in solutions, but just want to blame.  In the following video Jordan Peterson, Professor of Psychology at the University of Toronto says:

By setting out to fix yourself, “maybe you’ll become strong enough to accept that burden, and in that fashion even come to act nobly, and with purpose.”  “The proper way to fix the world isn’t to fix the world. There’s no reason to assume that you’re even up to such a task. But you can fix yourself. You’ll do no one any harm by doing so.”

This PragerU video presents some concrete things people can DO, and find positive results in their lives (and the lives of those around them).

Blaming others for your problems is a complete waste of time. When you do that, you don’t learn anything.

You can’t grow, and you can’t mature. Thus, you can’t make your life better.

In my three decades as a professor and clinical psychologist, I have learned that there are two fundamental attitudes toward life and its sorrows. Those with the first attitude blame the world. Those with the second ask what they could do differently.

Imagine a couple on the brink of divorce. They’re hurt and angry. The unhappy, bitter husband recalls the terrible things his wife has done, and the reasons he can no longer live with her.

The harried and disillusioned wife, in turn, can describe all the ways her husband let her down. Each has a long list of necessary changes—for the other person.

Their prospects for reconciliation are grim. Why? Because other people aren’t the problem. You’re the problem. You can’t change other people, but you can change yourself. But it’s difficult. It takes courage to change, and it takes discipline. It’s much easier—and much more gratifying to your basest desires—to blame someone else for your misery. Continue reading

Jan LaRue, Esq. has a brilliant legal mind and is a member of the California and U. S. Supreme Court bars. Her well-documented treatise [linked here and below] explains exactly why Roe vs. Wade was based upon unscientific fallacies.

Attorney LaRue states,

The lionization of Roe as untouchable precedent, which has become the definitive litmus test for Supreme Court nominees, rests on the fallacy that we do not know when life begins. The myth stems from seven Supreme Court justices who decided that it was unnecessary to know when life begins in order to decide if it may be ended. After implying that judges aren’t smart enough to even guess when life begins, the seven decided to decide anyway.” Continue reading

In light of the previous blog piece #0293 about Facebook banning Donna Garner from publishing on Facebook — it seems a good time to post information about the battle PragerU is involved in.  YouTube has banned nearly 40 of PragerU videos.  READ BELOW, SIGN PETITION, AND CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR LEGAL FUND.

Below is PragerU’s video:   Is Fascism Right or Left?   A transcript of the video is later in this blog piece, and here.

Two quotes from the movie:  “YouTube has restricted PragerU videos for only one reason: Ideological discrimination.”

“This kind of censorship is what we have seen on college campuses for years. But it is far more dangerous in this circumstance because the internet is where the world goes to get informed.”

hidden from most of the public

We are living in very dangerous and frightening times — and most Americans are oblivious to this.  Truth is being censored out of the “news” and “information” given to the public.

People are unaware because

1)  Our school curriculum and assessments/testing are controlled
federally and internationally by people who are purposely
undermining our Constitutional republic.

See some backup information substantiating the above claims:
0074_Common Core: Subversive Threat to Education_Karen Bracken_April 8, 2013_YouTube  published 02/25/16        (YouTube and Transcript)

2)   The mainstream media (on television, online and in print) and Hollywood
are complicit in these efforts to censor out any information that
does not support the narrative (agenda) of the Left.

PragerU suing Google/YouTube —
Facebook blocking Garner’s writing

See Blog post #294 for a PragerU video about “Is Fascism Right or Left?  — and read about PragerU’s lawsuit against Google/YouTube for banning some of their videos.

Yesterday I posted Blog 0292, which contained a request from Donna Garner, to tweet Congress requesting release of the memo that reveals illegal activity by people in our government. Today I learned that Facebook has banned Donna Garner’s writing (see email below).

Donna Garner wrote:  “ It should give all of us much concern that Zuckerberg’s Facebook is trying to control the free flow of speech, particularly among those of us who are trying so hard to preserve our Constitution and the Rule of Law.”

The Mainstream Media continues to
deflect/obstruct/hide/and lie.

The mainstream media has purposely kept all real information away from the public, and instead has daily attacked President Trump and Republicans.  The general public knows nothing about the investigations that are going on concerning real collusion between people in this country and Russia (but not Trump).  Continue reading
