0335_New Update Apr. 24, 2018_ Teacher Walkouts (in 27 CO school districts) Potentially Cost Taxpayers $13.3 Million_ plus cost for classified employees_ and cost to parents, etc. – by Ed is Watching

Shouldn’t teachers and administrators who encourage (or take part in) walkouts during school hours be fired?!?  Shouldn’t that also be the case for ones who encourage students and teachers to walkout during school hours?

This needs to be stopped – these people are eating up our tax dollars with their tyrannical and bullying behavior.  And they are causing parents and children grief (financial and emotional).  They are negative role models for our children.

The article below by Ed is Watching, was linked in Blog 0334.

It can be found at:

New Update: Teacher Walkouts Potentially Cost Taxpayers $ 13.3 Million

According to Colorado Chalkbeat, 27 Colorado school districts have cancelled classes due to the teacher walkouts scheduled later this week. Based on the average teacher salary in each district plus the cost of PERA benefits, the teacher walkouts in the 27 districts are potentially costing taxpayers $13.3 million. This figure does not include classified employees who serve at each school.

Teachers in my school district in Colorado (Jefferson) and also in Douglas County schools, are striking and lobbying at the state Capitol.  They claim Colorado ranks 46th in teacher pay – not true.  The NEA (National Education Association) lied.  Colorado teachers are 30th or 31st — closer to the middle of the pack.

Aren’t we paying them to teach in school — not strike to hold tax payers hostage?  Public school employees should never strike.   They should educate our children.  At least that is what we would ideally want.

Today Mandy Connell posted some comments on her blog about this subject.

0333_Cartoon predicts the future more than 60 years ago. YouTube Cartoon video.

At the beginning of the cartoon are these words:

“This is one of a series of films produced by the Extension Department of Harding College to create a deeper understanding of what has made America the finest place in the world to live.”

This cartoon and others are made fun of and cut down, but the fact remains it was not “propaganda” in the sense of telling lies.  It was getting a message out in response to the tearing down of America that was going on — a tearing down that continues to this day.

Cartoon predicts the future more than 60 years ago. This is amazing insight!

The Left, mainstream media, and schools exploit students and events.  Exploit: to use someone or something unfairly for your own advantage.

They politicize everything.  Politicize:   bring everything into the realm of politics, whether it belongs there or not.

John Newkirk published this article last month.  At the end I include some documentation links he emailed, that support his claim that students are being politicized in school.

“Let’s protest a system that increasingly politicizes our students, yet spends increasingly less time on morality and character development. ” — John Newkirk

Examples of Student Politicization

by John Newkirk

Our lives are full of routine and mundane days, punctuated by moments of gobsmacked reality that make us wish to God for just another routine and mundane day.

That April day started out like most others; dew-covered grass blades bowed beneath budding aspen sprouts, newborn calves gamboling in the meadow, and mountain bluebirds returning from their winter range, clothed in the same azure as the Colorado columbine.  A day’s worth of sunshine made the pastures greener, but a day’s worth of driving had me looking forward to hanging my hat, shuckin’ off the boots and setting my feet on the hearth.

But then the phone rang, and life would never be the same.

“Can you come to the church?” she pleaded, “Something terrible’s happened!” Continue reading

Note:  FERPA (the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, a federal law).   It governs access of educational information and records to public entities (potential employers, foreign governments, publicly funded educational institutions, …)
It was designed to protect information of children, but that protection no longer exists.

“Coalition Calls on Congress to Rewrite FERPA”

On Tuesday, American Principles Project and individuals from more than 100 organizations including Education Liberty Watch and Eagle Forum called on Congress to rewrite the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). In a letter to the House Education and Workforce Committee, they implored Congress to recognize that citizens have a property interest in their personal data and that Congress should protect that interest. AP US History – leftist indoctrination

AP U.S. History continues to be Leftist indoctrination, pretending to help parents by providing a great education for their children — enticing them by claiming to offer in high school, college-level, college credit, American history for a low cost.  AP courses are of the same political persuasion.

In 2014, the teachers’ unions and other leftist groups falsely painted the three school board members who were not controlled by the unions — as enemies of good education.  It began as soon as the three-member majority was elected.

The unions finally found their chance to make up a false reason to recall the school board members, when Julie Williams, one of the reform board members, put forth a recommendation to have people from the public review the AP U.S. History Framework and curriculum, and report back to the school board.

You would have thought she was planning to destroy every part of the Bill of Rights with such an “outlandish” recommendation.  People screamed “censorship.”  It was the twisted excuse that the Left then used to fuel the recall that they had been planning since before the 3 school board members were even sworn into office.

This is just a small part of the overall plan taking over education

You can read about Superintendent Glass imposing leftist curriculum on every class in our Jefferson County Colorado public school district – with no authority, oversight or permission.  It is not his job to dictate curriculum — and certainly not to put curriculum into classrooms, teaching children to hate anything traditional or American.

[I was one of those conservatives who got shut down by Facebook a few weeks ago. It took contacting our U. S. Representative who then contacted Facebook to get my page unblocked.  As people know who go to my public Facebook page (Donna Garner), I write, research, and publish articles on political, social, and education issues.  I am certainly not a “danger to my community” unless exercising my First Amendment rights under the U. S. Constitution is “dangerous.”

I am appreciative of Tex. Sen. Ted Cruz for asking Zuckerberg point blank today in the Congressional hearing to name the “liberal” groups that FB has ever shut down. Zuckerberg either could not name any or chose not to do so.  I believe it was the former.  – Donna Garner] Continue reading

“Who Watches the Watchmen?”– By Sandra Stotsky

“Transparency might guard the integrity of the tests given by the National Assessment of Educational Progress” — Sandra Stotsky

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?, a Latin phrase found in the work of the Roman poet Juvenal, is commonly used to refer to the problem of how one monitors the actions of persons in positions of power. We don’t know if we have a problem with the validity of the results of the “Nation’s Report Cards” or the extent of the problem (if there is one) because there is little transparency on the test development process.

Tests given by the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) have been funded by Congress since their inception in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Called the nation’s “Report Cards,” all states have been required since 2001 as part of No Child Left Behind to give these tests at least every two years. Continue reading
